The BrainBoxx

What it is

The BrainBoxx is an education platform for a small maths tutoring business in Meyerton, Gauteng. It is two things in one: a polished marketing site that parents find on Google, and an app that students and teachers use every day. Students log in to download weekly worksheets, submit photos of their completed work, take quizzes, and chat with their teacher — all from their phone. Teachers get a separate admin console to upload content, schedule classes, track every student's progress, and reply to messages in real time. Everything runs securely on Firebase — no server to maintain — with rules controlling exactly who can see what.

Background

The client runs small-group extra maths classes for Grade 1–12 learners and had been managing everything manually — worksheets shared over WhatsApp, feedback given verbally, and no way to track who had done what. The brief was to build something parents would trust when they found it online, while giving the teacher a proper tool so nothing slips through the cracks. The challenge was keeping it simple enough to run without a dedicated server, while still supporting real-time chat and progress tracking, quizzes that can't be cheated, and fine-grained control over when each student sees new content.
