What Resepte collects, and what it doesn't.

This policy covers the Resepte app only. The privacy policy for our website and client services is at pocket-architects.com/privacy.

The responsible party under POPIA is:

• Account details. Your email address and a password, which you give when you create an account. The password is handled by Firebase Authentication; we cannot see it.
• What you enter in the app. Your ingredients (names, package sizes and the prices you paid), your recipes (names, ingredients, amounts, method, notes, servings and selling prices) and your shopping list. We also store the date your account was created.
• Technical information collected by Google. The app is built on Google services, which collect some technical information themselves. Firebase Authentication logs your IP address and device type (user agent) when you sign in, to protect accounts against abuse. The text-recognition component used for scanning (Google ML Kit) sends Google diagnostic information such as your device model, Android version, the app version, performance measurements and error codes. It does not send your photos or the text read from them.

That is all. The app has no advertising and we do not track you or build a profile of you. It does not collect your name, location or contacts.

When you scan a recipe, you take a photo with your phone's camera app or choose one from your gallery. The text is read from the photo on your phone. The photo is not uploaded to us or to anyone else, and the app does not ask for camera or storage permission. Only the ingredients and steps you choose to save become part of your recipe.

A costing sheet PDF is created on your phone. It is saved to your Downloads folder or shared only when you choose to, with the app you choose.

• Your email address and password: to sign you in, keep your data separate from everyone else's, and send a password reset email when you ask for one.
• What you enter: to calculate costs, build your shopping list, and keep your recipes available when you sign in on another phone.

We do not sell your information, use it for advertising, or send you marketing.

Your account and data are stored with Google's Firebase services (Firebase Authentication and Cloud Firestore). Google acts as our service provider (operator) and may store and process the data on servers outside South Africa. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest.

Each account can only read and write its own data. We do not share your information with anyone else, unless the law requires us to.

We keep your account and data until you delete them. You can delete individual recipes and ingredients in the app at any time.

• In the app: open Settings, tap “Delete account” and confirm with your password. Your account, ingredients, recipes and shopping list are deleted straight away.
• Without the app: follow the steps on the delete account page.

Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. Your data disappears from the app and from our database straight away. Google may keep copies in its backup systems for up to 180 days before they are removed, and keeps sign-in IP address logs for a few weeks.

Under POPIA you may ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, and object to how we use it. Email info@pocket-architects.com and we will reply within 30 days.

If you are unhappy with how we handle your information, you may complain to the Information Regulator (South Africa): inforegulator.org.za, enquiries@inforegulator.org.za.

Resepte is not aimed at children. If you are under 18, use the app only with the consent of a parent or guardian.

If we change this policy, we will update this page and the date at the top. If the app starts collecting anything new, we will say so here before that version is released.
